Betty Lou Martin
<p>Betty L Martin, 94, of Marietta, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, at her home. She was born September 11, 1930, in Enterprise, WV to Roy and Etta Myers. She graduated from Fairmont State College in 1952 and was a member of the Pi Kappa Sigma Sorority.</p><p>After graduating, Betty taught school in Alexandria VA for one year and then married Roy D Martin of Terra Alta WV on December 7, 1952.</p><p><br></p><p>After a short time living in Beaver Falls PA and Cleveland OH, they found their way to Marietta and decided to make it their permanent home. Betty loved reading and taught English at Marietta Middle School for 30 years. She was actively involved in all of Roy’s Masonic activities and functions prior to his passing in 2001.</p><p><br></p><p>Betty was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church, Homebuilders Class, Susannah Circle, Eastern Star and was a proud recipient of the WV Golden Horseshoe Award. She spent her retirement years volunteering as a docent at The Castle Historic House Museum, delivering Meals on Wheels, participating in the Democratic Women’s Club and retired teachers' association.</p><p><br></p><p>Betty is survived by her son, David and partner Kalinda; daughter, Peggy and son-in-law, Perry; granddaughter, Ali; grandson, Judah; step granddaughters, Jessica, Katie, Faith, Kharmany; step grandsons, Justin and Sam; great granddaughter, Emory; sister Sue, and brother-in-law John, nieces Tammy, Lisa and nephew Johnny. She was proceeded in death by her husband Roy; and siblings Jerry, Carol, Bud and Jim.</p><p><br></p><p>The family is having a private Eastern Star and Masonic ceremony, and any memorial donations can be made in Betty’s name to Shriver's Hospice of Zanesville, OH.</p><p><br></p>September 11, 1930 - March 12, 202509/11/193003/12/2025
