<p>Pana — James Russell Stout Sr., 81, of Pana, Illinois, died Monday, March 10, 2025, at Evercare of Lebanon in Lebanon. Jim was born April 20, 1943, in Mount Auburn, the son of Dallas C. and Helen L. Howard Stout Sr. He married Ursula G. Hornung, and they later divorced. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James R. Stout Jr.; a daughter, Nancy Stout; five brothers, Dale F. Stout, Dallas C. Stout, Frederick W. Stout, Larry F. Stout and Jerry L. Stout; three sisters, Leona M. O’Dell, Helen Patsy Beck and Iva M. Bisby; and a son-in-law, Douglas Warcup.</p><p><br></p><p>Jim attended Tri-City High School and joined the military prior to graduating. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served in the Army National Guard. He worked in heavy construction and was with Carpenters Local Union No. 742 in Decatur as a self-employed carpenter for over 40 years before retiring in 1990.</p><p><br></p><p>Jim was a member of AMVETS of Pana, the Kerr-Mize American Legion Post #168 in Pana, the Shiners Classic Cars Club and the Pawnee Masonic Lodge #675 AF &amp; AM. He also served as the commander of the Pana Veterans Honor Guard.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his daughter, Edie Warcup, of Pana; four grandchildren, Chelsey Stout, Jordan Stout, Kaley (Rhoades) Vo and Devin Rhoades; three great-grandchildren, Julia Vo, Harrison Vo and Cayden Stout; three sisters, Mini L. (husband, Sam) Power of Crowder, Oklahoma, Mary Martha Stout of Pana and Connie S. Harlan of Pana; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.</p><p><br></p><p>Jim’s family will meet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of a Masonic service at 10:45 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2025, at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., with Rev. Bennie Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery in Chatham, with military honors conducted by the Pana Veterans Honor Guard.</p><p><br></p><p>Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 4400 Clayton Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110.</p><p><br></p><p>Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee is serving the family of Jim Stout.
