<p>David Rivera, born 1970 in New York City, NY, was finally relieved of duty on March 8th, 2025, in Boerne, TX while in his residence, held by his loving wife. He has entrusted his duties to his wife, Judith Rivera, and two sons, Jonathan and Alex Rivera. He was the beloved son of Ivan and Milagros Maldonado, and the precious brother of Brenda Maldonado.</p><p><br></p><p>David was known to most as humorous, adventurous, spontaneous, and resolute, while simultaneously being brash, crass, stubborn, and a little unhinged. He was the true embodiment of what a Marine is—a devil dog, leatherneck, jarhead, and above all, a Gunny. His unexpected passing has done what he does best, leaving a strong impact on all the lives he touched. We ask that you remember him thus: A headstrong Marine who lived life to the fullest and brought challenges and adventures alike to those around him.</p><p><br></p><p>David Rivera fulfilled his duty to this country from 1990 to 2013 and honored his contract with the Marine Corps by deploying in service of Iraqi Freedom in 2004. He was always ready to go above and beyond for his Marines and for the Corps.
