<p>John J. Cook, 82, of Ballston Spa, passed away peacefully at Saratoga Hospital on Monday, March 10, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 5, 1942, in Port Henry, NY to Stephen and Frances Cook.</p><p><br></p><p>John served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Fleet from 1961 through 1964 as a Machinist Mate Second Class aboard the USS Thresher and the USS Thomas Jefferson. After leaving the Navy, John graduated from Union College with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and worked for General Electric for 33 years. John enjoyed traveling with his wife, Pat, and visited many countries, including Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Ireland, and Italy. His greatest joy was his sons, grandchildren, and great grandchild whom he adored.</p><p><br></p><p>John is survived by his brother, James, of Port Henry; his sister, Carolyn (David) Vansise of Keene; his sons, John Cook and his wife, Donna, of Glenville, COL (Retired) Thomas Cook and his wife, Denise, of West Point, William Cook and his wife, Eileen, of Ballston Spa, and Stephen Cook and his wife, Rebecca, of Ballston Spa; his grandchildren, Sierra, Sebastian, Alexander, Tommy, Sasha, Maria, Billy (Michelle), Brittany (Geo), Jake, Lili, and Matthew; and his great-grandchild, Rory.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his beloved wife Patricia, and his sister-in-law Donna Cook.</p><p><br></p><p>Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Sunday, March 16 from 2pm to 5pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9am on Monday, March 17 at St. Mary’s Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa. Burial with military honors will follow at the Gerald B.H.
