Jacquelyn “Jacquie” LaValley, 81, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025, with her loving family by her side.

Born on May 25, 1943, in Columbus, Ohio, Jacquie was the daughter of Frederick Ford and Ruth White. She is survived by her devoted companion, Rick, her children, Jeff (Lori) LaValley and Suzanne (Jerry) Saxion, as well as many grandchildren, cherished extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Ruth Ford.

Jacquie had a deep love for life’s simple joys. She had a green thumb. No matter what plant, they all seemed to thrive under her care. She really enjoyed shopping and collecting trinkets, each one holding a special memory or future purpose. A homebody at heart, she was nurturing and always found joy in caring for others. She was especially fond of cardinals and loved feeding the birds outside her window. Her favorite music was ’70s rock and country, the soundtrack to many fond memories. She enjoyed car shows and once even took an unforgettable motorcycle ride to Florida.

She loved the Lord and took to heart His golden rule “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” She loved to be surrounded by those she loved, always putting others before herself with a warm heart and a smile. Above all, her proudest achievement was her family. She was a wonderful mother-in-law, a loyal friend, and a natural caregiver who touched many lives with her kindness. She welcomed a blended family with open and enveloping arms. In her uniquely selfless way, she always believed that family wasn’t just about blood, it was about love. As Jacquie said, she knows death is not the end. She will come back as a cardinal to check up on all those she loved. In the meantime, Jacquie (ever the master of the Mid West Goodbye) will say, “bye, bye, talk to you soon, bye, you take care, love you bye.”

Family and friends are invited to Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chapel on Thursday, March 13, 2025, for visitation from 5 to 7 PM. A graveside service at Eastview Cemetery will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 12.
