<p><p>Colleen Barbara Reedy Booker, 96, of Salem, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Born in Roanoke, Virginia on October 15, 1928, to the late Randolph Keister Reedy and Edith Dalton Reedy, she is also preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Jennings Booker and her brother, Randolph Keister Reedy, Jr.</p><p><br></p><p>Barbara was a graduate of Roanoke Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a compassionate and kind caregiver and a gifted and well-educated registered nurse. Barbara served as an instructor at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, sharing her knowledge with countless new nurses in her tenure. She retired from nursing in 1996. Barbara enjoyed traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid and competitive Bridge player, playing Duplicate and Social Bridge as well. She was a longtime member of Salem Baptist Church and served in numerous ministries and committees. Barbara was so very well loved by all of her family and friends and will be greatly missed.</p><p><br></p><p>Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sallie Ann Booker Dodson; sons, Paul J. Booker, Jr., and Randolph Thornton Booker; granddaughter, Blair K. Dodson; grandsons, John R. Booker, Tyler K. Dodson, Jesse R. Dodson and Steven Harris; great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Nathan and Brian; nieces, Rebecca Reedy and Elizabeth Suzanne, as well as special cousins, Nancy King Porter and Donna King Tomb.</p><p><br></p><p>A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem, with Pastor Tom Clark officiating.
