<p>HOULTON, Joyce Manship, 85, of Houlton, passed away at Houlton Regional Hospital on January 20, 2025, after a long battle with lung and heart disease.</p><p><br></p><p>She was born in Bath, New Brunswick, Canada, on April 19, 1939, to Roy and Hazel (Brown) Estey. Joyce grew up in the same house that her father grew up in and attended Houlton High School, class of 1957. She worked at Al’s Restaurant and Dana’s Restaurant in Houlton before moving to Portland in 1961 with her husband Paul. Joyce worked at Fairchild Semiconductor and together Joyce and Paul owned and operated two grocery stores, Pine Street Li’l Peach and Manships Variety.</p><p><br></p><p>In 1984 they moved to Bangor where she began working at Maine Tourism, which was her calling. Joyce was a people person and thoroughly enjoyed talking about her great state of Maine to the tourists. There’s hardly a town she couldn’t immediately find on a map. She made many lasting friendships there.</p><p><br></p><p>Always a County girl at heart, she came back in 2008 to be closer to her loving daughter and grandchildren who she loved more than life itself.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Scott and her life partner David Britton of Houlton, two grandsons, Michael Scott and wife Tennille and Marc Scott and wife Kathryn all of Houlton. Six great-grandchildren; Colby, Parker, Abby, Tyler, Riley, and Lucas Scott. She was anxiously awaiting the birth of a great-granddaughter, Lowen. She also leaves behind her nephew Dale Alan Estey and two nieces Tina McNinch and Margaret Hagerman, her childhood best friend Noni Potvin of Scarborough, brother-in-law Jim Manship and wife Nancy of Bangor and a special nephew Tom Manship and his wife Sandy of Northfield and a special cousin, Mike Crawford and wife, of Presque Isle, ME.</p><p><br></p><p>Joyce was predeceased by her parents, husband Paul, her brother Dale and sister-in-law Joyce Estey, a cousin Erma Reynolds, and her special daughter Susanna Wright.</p><p><br></p><p>The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Houlton Regional Hospital and Northern Light Home Care and Hospice for the excellent care she received over the past few years.</p><p><br></p><p>Services will be held on Saturday February 1, 2025, at the Wesleyan Church on Kelleran Street in Houlton. Viewing at 12 noon, with services following at 1:00PM. A time of food, fellowship and stories will be held following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Bridge to Hope, 300 Foxcroft Rd., Houlton, ME., 04730. She will be laid to rest with her parents at Evergreen Cemetery in the Spring.</p><p></p>
