<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; </p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;THOMAS W. LECHLITNER, 75, of Granger, IN, peacefully passed from his life in his sleep at his home after a brief illness on January 9, 2025. </p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Tom was born December 8, 1949, in Mishawaka, IN to William and Hattie Lechlitner. He graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1968.&nbsp; After graduation he started his career with Indiana Bell Telephone Company.&nbsp; He then was drafted to the United States Army where he was stationed in Korea supporting communications with the 122d signal battalion.&nbsp; He was proud to have served his country and to be a member of the American Legion. </p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;After returning from the Army, Tom continued his career with Indiana Bell. After the divestiture in 1984, he worked for AT&amp;T, NCR, Lucent Technologies, and Avaya for a combined total of 32 years. </p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Tom was preceded in death by his parents, William and Hattie Lechlitner and sister, Margaret L. Dillman. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Cynthia Lechlitner, daughter, Jennifer Lechlitner, Kalamazoo MI; son, William (Katie) Lechlitner, Buchanan, MI; granddaughter, Brinley Lechlitner, and step grandsons Aidan and Rylan Fisher.&nbsp; Also surviving are his brothers, Herbert (Susan) Lechlitner, Lakeville, IN; David (Debra) Lechlitner, Mishawaka, IN; and brother-in-law, James Dillman, Elkhart, IN. Along with his children and grandchildren he had many nieces and nephews which he enjoyed watching their accomplishments through the years. </p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Tom was a hard-working family man who loved gatherings with family and friends. He was adventurous and loved fishing, boating, hunting, camping, and traveling. He was a constant learner. He knew how to fix and do just about anything. If he didn't know, he'd learn. He loved to cook, grill, and experiment with all types of cuisine.&nbsp; He loved passing his knowledge to his children and was very proud of them.&nbsp; He will be missed by all! </p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The viewing will be on Wednesday, January 15 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 West 8th Street, Mishawaka IN.&nbsp; The funeral service will be on Thursday, January 16 at 11:30 AM with visitation one hour prior also at Hahn Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 10775 McKinley Hwy, Osceola, IN (Jefferson St. entrance).&nbsp; </p>
