<p>Austin Joseph VerVynck, 32, of Elgin passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025. He was born February 23, 1992, in Geneva, IL, the son of Kenneth VerVynck and Patricia (nee Armstrong) Howard.<br><br></p><p>Austin graduated from South Elgin High School in the class of 2011. He then joined the United States Army where he excelled and proudly served for more than 10 years. Austin really enjoyed the outdoors where he loved to fish and most recently duck hunting became his passion. Austin was a talented automobile mechanic, which he enjoyed and was always willing to help anyone with their auto repair needs.<br><br></p><p>He is survived by his parents, Kenneth (Patty) VerVynck, and Patricia (Kenneth) Howard; his siblings, Amanda VerVynck Tarver; Amber (John) Ghegan; Justin VerVynck, Ashley Howard, Danielle Howard; his paternal grandmother, Patricia VerVynck, maternal grandfather, Joseph Armstrong; his adored nieces and nephews, Isaiah Tarver, Samuel Ghegan, Noah Tarver, Jeremiah Tarver, Samantha Ghegan, Jaiden Ghegan and Brittney Ghegan and many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.<br><br></p><p>He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Joseph VerVynck and maternal grandmother Sandra Winne and a stepbrother Brian Howard.<br><br></p><p>Visitation will be held 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Moss Family Funeral Home, St. Charles, 100 South Third Street St. Charles, IL. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the funeral home at 4:00 P.M.<br><br></p><p>His committal service, interment and military honors will take place 9:30 A.M.
