<p> John Robert Boustead, age 76, of Normal, passed away on January 4, 2025 at Carle BroMenn Medical Center, Normal, Illinois.</p><p>Funeral services honoring his life will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Schilling Funeral Home, 1301 Charleston Avenue, Mattoon, Illinois 61938, with Pastor Ron Dickinson officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. </p><p> John was born on May 29, 1948 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the son of John Kurtz and Mary Jeanette (Scott) Boustead. He married the love of his life Nancy Cope on October 25, 1968. </p><p>Survivors include his loving wife Nancy Boustead of Normal, IL; daughter, Rhonda (Tony) Howard of Bloomington, IL; grandchildren, Alexander (Ashonta) Howard of Louisville, KY, Kimberly Howard of Bloomington, IL, Kearen Howard of Bloomington, IL, Nikisha (Jacoby) Davis of Virginia Beach, VA, Devon (Jasonna) Howard of Belleville, IL and Jaylen Howard of Decatur, IL; great-grandchildren, Teigen Howard of Louisville, KY, Jurnee Howard of Louisville, KY and Drew Howard of Belleville, IL; nephews, Kevin (Karen) Boustead; Jeffrey Boustead of Colliers, WV and Amy (Shawn) Wagner of Toronto, OH.</p><p>John was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kimberly M. Boustead; and brothers, James S. Boustead and Charles J. (Martha) Boustead.</p><p>John worked over 50 years in the tire business, most notably at Neal Tire in Mattoon. He later retired in 2015 from Fleet Equipment Corporation as Midwest sales representative. John volunteered 10 years for the Mattoon Auxiliary Police and retired as chief. He also served 12 years as the Coles County Deputy Coroner. John was a 50-year member of the Richard Vaux Masonic Lodge #454 of Burgettstown, PA. He was a member of the Ansar Shriners of Springfield, Illinois, member of the Corn Belt Shrine Club, and a lifetime member of the Eagles Club #3438 in Mattoon, IL. John loved hunting, fishing, camping, boating and bowling. John will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He took care of everyone, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and was always the life of the party. John will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.</p><p>Memorial donations in his honor may be given to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
