<p>Richard (Dicky) Buss</p><p><br></p><p>Richard (Dicky) Buss of Frederick, MD, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, at the age of 70. He is lovingly survived by his children: Richard Scott Buss, Michele Kain, Maria Clara Guillen (Marco), and his brother, Frederick (Ricky) Buss. Affectionately known as “Papa” or “Grandpa,” Richard also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Nathan and Allison Buss; Declan, Liam, and Connor Kain; Isabella Castaneda; Martin and Antonio Guillen.</p><p><br></p><p>Richard was born in Newburgh, NY, and spent his early years in Hyattsville, MD. During his youth, he volunteered at the Landover Hills Fire Station, worked as a lifeguard, and graduated from Bladensburg High School. Known for his strong work ethic, Richard began his career at Mack Trucks, moved on to BFI, and retired from the Montgomery County Recycling Center. He was admired for his helpfulness, friendly demeanor, and ability to find humor in everyday situations.</p><p><br></p><p>One of Richard’s proudest accomplishments was serving as a Boy Scout leader for his son’s troop, a role that became the source of countless fond memories and stories. A lifelong lover of dogs, Richard owned dogs his entire life and made financial contributions to the SPCA as well as other charitable causes.</p><p><br></p><p>Richard was a natural and charismatic storyteller and always up to date on current events to easily converse with anyone. In recent years, his greatest joy came from his grandchildren. Papa or Grandpa, loved sharing his playful spirit with them by initiating nerf wars and good-natured mischief. The children always made him feel and act like a kid again, or perhaps he never fully grew up!</p><p><br></p><p>A celebration of Richard’s life will be held on January 17, his birthday, at 12:00 p.m. at Going Home Cremation and Funeral Care, 519 Mabe Drive, Woodbine, MD 21797.</p>
