<p><p>Shailendra Kumar Singh, 83, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, departed this world on Monday, November 25, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and generosity.</p><p><br></p><p>Mr. Singh was born February 27, 1941, in Amarpur, India and was the son of the late Punjab Rai and Bishan Kaur.</p><p><br></p><p>It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Shailendra, a remarkable man whose extraordinary life and unwavering kindness left an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew him.</p><p><br></p><p>With an innate entrepreneurial spirit, he established thriving businesses across two continents, excelling in a wide range of industries including construction, retail, mining, and liquor distribution. Beyond these remarkable achievements, his true passion was farming, where he cultivated not only crops but also a deep sense of purpose to change the lives of the underprivileged. His legacy includes the successful operation of a sugar mill and much more.</p><p><br></p><p>He was a political influencer with a unique ability to connect with leaders on all levels, from prime ministers of India, such as Indira Gandhi, to local politicians. His wisdom, insight, and character earned him the respect of those around him, but it was his kind spirit that truly defined him.</p><p><br></p><p>He was a man who gave freely of himself, helping everyone he could without expecting anything in return. In his time in the United States, he dedicated his life to uplifting the community and providing opportunities to all people, regardless of race, religion, or creed. He believed in the power of kindness and the strength of unity, a belief that guided his actions and inspired those fortunate enough to know him.</p><p><br></p><p>He lived what many would call an "extraordinary life of an ordinary man," leaving an unparalleled impact on those around him. His memory will be cherished by his family, friends, and countless individuals whose lives he touched.</p><p><br></p><p>Surviving him are his wife of 50 years, Jyoti Singh. Also surviving are two sons, Rahul and wife, Olena Singh, Anshu and wife, Shalini Singh; four grandchildren, Rohan, Ishaan, Yash, Jai and one great-grandchild, Isabella. </p><p><br></p><p>The family will commemorate his life privately. </p></p>
