<p>> Mary E. Murphy, born on October 9, 1933, in New York City, raised in St. Bartholomew’s Parish in Elmhurst,Queens, and resided in Rego Park ,Queens for 66 years, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024. She dedicated her life as an R.N. for 55 years, impacting so many with her care and compassion. Especially close to her heart was Doctors Hospital, where she worked most of her career and gave birth to her three children. Mary was a loving grandmother to six grandchildren and cherished her family and friends deeply. She had a passion for the theater, museums, and travel, and held dearly Nantucket Island, where she spent her childhood summers, worked at the Downyflake Restaurant, and visited annually with family and friends.</p><p>></p><p>> Mary also had a lifelong dedication to learning, furthering her knowledge through the Adult Education Program at Fordham University and The Center for Learning & Living where she formed lasting friendships. She received her degree at Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing and her Bachelor of Science at St. Joseph’s College. Mary graduated from Our Lady of Wisdom Academy High School in Ozone Park, Queens.</p><p>></p><p>> Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Austin P. Murphy, and her brother, Stephen F. Buckley Jr. She was the daughter of Stephen and Esther Buckley. She is survived by her daughter Deirdre Mackelburg, her husband Karl, and grandson Kyle; her son Austin P. Murphy Jr., his wife Frances, and their boys Augustin and Alexander; her son Keith Murphy, his wife Kim, and their children Gretchen, Jack, and Ruby. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Barbara Buckley, Mary Donohue (née Murphy) and Rose Murphy as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews and family.</p>
