<p>Mildred D. Brooks, age 89 of Cataula, GA, passed away Monday, September 30, 2024 at Orchard View Assisted Living in Columbus, GA.</p><p><br></p><p>Mrs. Brooks was born July 19, 1935 in Raburn County, GA, the daughter of Thomas A. Dodgins and Mary Lou Smith Dodgins. She was raised in the mountains of north Georgia and moved to the Columbus area as a young adult. Mrs. Brooks retired as a Doffer for the Bibb Mill in Columbus and was a homemaker. She later worked numerous other jobs, including several years as an assistant in the local florist in Cataula, and was self-employed in the housekeeping business. She was a member of the former Rehobeth Baptist Church, now The Rock Church, in Cataula, and loved spending time traveling and exploring with her friends. </p><p>In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E. Brooks, and a son, Tommy Brooks.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her son, William H. Brooks of Abilene, TX; a daughter Audrey Dale Davis (Jimmy) of Pine Mountain, GA; a brother, Jack Dodgins (Angela) of Wiley, GA; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p>A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home in Hamilton, GA, with Marilyn Collier officiating. </p><p>The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 12:00 until 1:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.</p><p><br></p><p>Cox Funeral Home, Hamilton, GA, is assisting the family with arrangements.</p>
