<p>Garry Larson </p><p>June 14, 1941 ~ September 16, 2024 </p><p>Garry Larson passed away on September 16, 2024, in Lethbridge at Chinook Regional Hospital. He leaves behind a legacy marked by dedication to his family, and his many passions and hobbies. Garry is predeceased by his mother Dorothy, father Henry (Hank), his brother, Gordon, brother in-laws Chuck and Ted. </p><p>Born in 1941, Garry was a lifelong resident of Fort Macleod, and has a deep connection to the town, residents and the surrounding area. He was a beloved figure in his community, known for his passion and dedication to both the Fort Macleod Curling Club and Fort Macleod Golf Club. A lifelong curler, Garry was inducted into the Fort Macleod Curling Club in 2004 as a lifetime member. Upon retirement Garry was a regular member of the Golf Club and enjoyed daily rounds of golf with many friends. Garry had the notable achievements of an 8-ender in curling, as well as a hole in one in golf. </p><p>Garry's professional life was diverse and fulfilling. He worked at Silverwood Dairy from 1957 to 1974 and owned and operated a Shell service station in 1975. His long-standing career as a natural gas pipeliner spanned from 1975 to 1996 with Alberta Gas Trunkline, Nova, and Trans Canada, retiring in 1996. Post-retirement, he worked as a handyman and served as the Icemaker for the Fort Macleod curling club until 2012. </p><p>Garry's hobbies and interests were many, and painted the picture of an adventurous spirit. Always active and appreciative of the outdoors, Garry enjoyed hunting and fishing as a young man and transitioned to snowmobiling and dirt biking as time went on. He loved to camp and travel as well and had many adventures around the world. After retirement Garry enjoyed quadding and his passion for geocaching, flyfishing and traveling in later years showed his adaptability and continuous zest for life. </p><p>Garry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lorraine; daughter, Diana; son-in-law, Daryl; grandsons, Thomas and Quinten; along with niece, Ashley (Richie, Henrik and Maddox); and nephew, Andrew (Crystal). They, along with his many friends and community members, will miss him deeply. </p><p>An Open House will be held on October 3rd at Garry's tee time, 12:10 PM – 3:00pm, at the Fort Macleod Golf Club, 270 Lyndon Rd, Fort Macleod, where friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate Garry's life. </p><p>There will be a private graveside service for the family. </p><p>In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Southern Alberta Search and Rescue, Box 1705, Pincher Creek, Alberta, T0K 1W0, or the Fort Macleod Handibus Society, Box 881, Fort Macleod, AB, T0L 0Z0, causes close to Garry's heart. </p>
