<p>Jesse L. Conkey 58, of Strasburg, went home to be with his Savior on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Medical Center in Canton after a 2 1/2 year battle with cancer. &nbsp;Born March 20, 1966, he was a son of the late James C. and Esther M. (Hufford) Conkey. &nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>He was an operating engineer for Kinsey Excavating in New Philadelphia. &nbsp;He was a Veteran of the Army Reserves and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in New Philadelphia. &nbsp;Jesse was active in his church where he enjoyed singing with various groups at the church and also volunteered with other church members in building wheelchair ramps in the community. &nbsp;Jesse and his family served as care takers at Camp Sharon in Wadsworth for 11 years and he continued to volunteer his time at the camp through this past summer. &nbsp;He was a handy man, &nbsp;jack of all trades and a master of all. &nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>Jesse was not only a talented and hardworking individual but also a devoted family man, finding immense joy in spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. &nbsp;His love for them was immeasurable, and his legacy of faith, dedication, and hard work will live on in their lives.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Tammy (Hartline), whom he married May 4, 1984. &nbsp;Also survived by 3 children Lucas (Chelsea) Conkey of Sherrodsville, Brianne (Ryan) Sullivan of Orrville and Seth Conkey of Strasburg; 7 grandchildren Emma, Kate, John, Beau, Finn, Stella and Cooper; 1 sister Beth (Chuck) Nutt of Clinton, Mississippi and 4 brothers Dan (Nancy) Conkey of Copley, Steve (Lori) Conkey of Sandusky, Tim (Martha) Conkey of Carrollton and Joel (Kris) Conkey of Canton.</p><p><br></p><p>A celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 12:00 Noon at First Church of the Nazarene in New Philadelphia with Pastor Scott Jones officiating. &nbsp;Friends may call at the church on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 6 to 8 PM and from 10:00 AM until Noon on Saturday. &nbsp;The Lebold-Smith Funeral Home in Bolivar is handling the arrangements. &nbsp;To share a memory, please visit the funereal home's web site. &nbsp;</p><p>Lebold-Smith</p><p>330874-3113</p><p>www.leboldsmithfuneral.com</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>&nbsp; </p>
