<p>Click here to watch Live-Stream </p><p>Mrs. Shirley Mae Sparks Burrus, age 85 of Traphill passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist-Wilkes Medical Center. </p><p>Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Christian Home Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Hendren and Rev. Jim Miles officiating. Burial will be in Rockford Baptist Church Cemetery, 4947 Rockford Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service at the church. </p><p>Shirley was born May 21, 1939, in Wilkes County to Erta Alverta Ingool. She was a payroll technician at Northwestern Bank for several years until this company was bought out by First Union Bank, after which Shirley worked for several years at Sturdivant Life and MECI before retiring. She was a Sunday School teacher at Christian Home Baptist Church in Traphill and also helped in the Bible School and Christmas Program when she was a young woman. </p><p>She was preceded in death by her mother, sister: Maggie Bowers, and a brother-in-law; M. L. Bowers. </p><p>She is survived by her husband; Mac Burrus, a nephew; Douglas Bowers (Faye) of Lexington, a great nephew; Daniel Bowers (Shannon) of Pleasant Garden, a niece; Donna Brown (Gary) of Lexington, also a great niece; Heather Brown of Lexington, a great-great niece; Kiley Bowers of Pleasant Garden, including the following; Mac’s brother; Tilden Burrus (Pat), Tilden’s son; Rob Burrus (Holly), Rob and Holly’s children; David, Grace, and Caleb, Tilden and Pat’s daughter; Sarah West (Ron), and their children; Jackson, Jude, Cole, Shane, and Saige. </p><p>The family wishes to give a special thanks to two special care givers who looked after Shirley during the final weeks of her life, Judy Holbrook and Rosa Stanley. </p><p>Flowers and food will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt.
