<p>Green Island - Izayah Avery, 12, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024 at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital in New York City after being airlifted due to cardiac complications. Born in Albany on March 14, 2012, Zay is the son of Kayla Avery and Haneef Washington.</p><p>Zay was getting ready to begin his 7th grade year at Heatly at the time of his passing. He had an extreme passion for soccer and loved to watch his favorite player Ronaldo whenever he could. Zay played soccer for The Watervliet Youth Soccer League on both the club and travel teams.</p><p>In addition to his parents, Zay is survived by his siblings Isabella, Aeriella, Haneefah, Aaliyah, Haneef Jr, Aniya, Joziya and Janiyah. Along with his grandparents Wanda Washington and John and Kimberly Avery. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Michael Floyd.&nbsp;</p><p>A celebration of Life for Zay will be held on Saturday September 21st from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at The Watervliet VFW, 783 Broadway in Watervliet.</p>
