<p>Julian Jay Ashbaugh, known affectionately as Julian, Mister, and Mister Man, passed away on August 31, 2024, at the age of 17. Born on August 2, 2007, in Columbus, Georgia, Julian brought an immeasurable amount of joy, intelligence, and courage into the lives of all who knew him. He departed this world in Phenix City, Alabama, leaving behind a legacy of generosity and an adventurous spirit that will be cherished forever. </p><p>Julian was the beloved son of Thomas Joseph Ashbaugh and Finie Harmer Hardie, a caring brother to Julie, Lily, and Marc, and a cherished grandson to Charles Jay Harmer and Faye Ann Harmer. He was also a beloved nephew to Steve and Vicky Newsome. </p><p>As a student at Smiths Station High School, Julian excelled academically, maintaining a high GPA that reflected his dedication and intelligence. His musical talent shone brightly as the trombone section leader in the marching band, and he had the remarkable ability to teach himself piano, mastering the Minecraft theme song with flawless precision. Julian's academic achievements were recognized with acceptance letters from several universities, a testament to his hard work and potential. </p><p>Julian's love for the outdoors was a cornerstone of his life. He found joy in water sports, including swimming, kayaking, rafting, or parasailing. His passion for outdoor adventures led him to explore hiking trails, caves, and travel to National Parks. Julian's adventurous spirit also took him to places like Disney World, where the magic of exploration knew no bounds. He shared his love for video games with friends, creating memories that will continue to live on in their hearts. Those who knew Julian will remember him as a beacon of generosity, always willing to lend a hand or share his knowledge. His courage was evident not only in his adventurous pursuits but also in the way he approached life's challenges with a positive attitude. Julian's intelligence was matched by his kind heart, making him a friend to all creatures, great and small. His love for all animals was profound, and he had a special connection with every pet he met. His playful companions, Archer, Riker, and Cassie, will miss their fun-loving human friend. Julian's life, though brief, was a canvas of experiences painted with the vibrant colors of his interests and passions. The memories he created with his family and friends will be treasured as precious reminders of the time spent with a truly remarkable young man. Julian's journey on earth has come to an end, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and the unquenchable thirst for adventure that touched so many lives. </p><p>A memorial will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. EST at Smiths Station Baptist Church.
