<p>Raymond Calvin Bowen, age 93, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at his home.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p>Born July 3, 1931, in Anderson County, SC, he was a son of the late Lester Deville Bowen and Margie Brooks Bowen. He was married for 59 wonderful years to Kay Blackston Bowen, who was affectionately called “Baby Doll”, until her death in 2014. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Meadie Bowen; and two sisters, Mildred Campbell and Bernie Sue Bowen.</p><p><br></p><p>Calvin, also known as “R.C.”, worked with Anderson Frozen Food and retired from A&P Grocery as the Market Manager after 34 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict as a sniper. He fought in the battle of Triangle Hill and Sniper Ridge and was a Purple Heart recipient. He loved his family and took such great care of “Baby Doll” during her illness. He was a faithful Christian and member of Centerville Church of God.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his son, Brian Bowen (Denise) of Anderson; daughter, Debbie Lee (Lonnie) of Clemson; sister, Sylvia Reed of Anderson; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p>The family will receive friends Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 1:30-2:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Russell Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with military honors.</p><p><br></p><p>Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.</p><p><br></p>July 3, 1931 - September 4, 202407/03/193109/04/2024
