<p>It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Harvey, surrounded by his loving family on September 2, 2024.</p><p><br></p><p>Harvey was born to the late Margaret and George (Bert) Flemming on October 23, 1951. He was a Master Electrician by trade, a career following in his father’s footsteps. Later in life, he took great joy as a School Yard Supervisor at Chester District and Chester Area Middle Schools. He shared his love of motorcycles and archery as an instructor at the Canadian Safety Council, National Archery School and the Department of Natural Resources respectively. Most recently, Harvey served as a Justice of the Peace unifying couples in marriage, a role he found to be very rewarding.</p><p><br></p><p>Harvey found great happiness volunteering throughout his life at the Lighthouse Food Bank, Special Olympics, Shoreham Village, the Maritime Motorcycle Touring Association, and also at his church as a Deacon, Chair, Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent. He shared his love of the Lord teaching Christianity 101 at various correctional facilities. Harvey found fulfilment working with St. John Ambulance with his adored dogs, Brutus and Moose.</p><p><br></p><p>A proud Mason for over 45 years, Harvey was initiated in Harmony Lodge No. 20, Salisbury, NB and was an affiliated member of Clarke Lodge No. 61, Chester, NS. An active member of the Lunenburg Rod & Gun Club, he enjoyed clay shooting and also enjoyed fishing, hunting and driving his Mustang.</p><p><br></p><p>Harvey had a heart of gold and a great sense of humour. He faced life challenges head on and no obstacle was too great for his resilient spirit. A true servant to those around him, he selflessly gave his time and energy to make a positive impact within his community. Harvey loved to take a thermos of tea into the woods of Lunenburg County, where he found solace observing the wildlife and the beauty of nature, especially among the fall colours. Harvey was a devoted husband and father. His love for his “girls” was immeasurable and Dee will forever be his one true love.</p><p><br></p><p>Harvey is survived by his beloved wife of close to 50 years, Darlene, their four girls; Jennifer (Mark), Christine (Dana), Katie and Sara. Grandchildren; Evan, Ellie, Gage, Clara and Silas. Tim (Sharon) Koehler, who was like a son to Harvey, and their family. His brother David (Nancy) Flemming and sister Janet Hall, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Ellsworth and Arthur Flemming.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral service to take place at Chester United Baptist Church on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 11am. </p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. </p><p>www.eastcoastmemorial.ca </p>
