<p>Mr. Raymond Preuitt of Hartsville quietly and confidently transitioned from this earthly life to a walk with his Heavenly Father at 7:55 a.m. Monday morning September 2, 2024 with his loving wife Rita at his bedside. He was pronounced deceased at his Fort Blount Road home at 8:28 a.m. by Gentiva Hospice of Lebanon who had been lovingly assisting the family with his care in his final days. Mr. Preuitt was 83.</p><p><br></p><p>His pastor, Bro. Ron Ralph, will officiate at the 11 a.m. Friday morning September 6th funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in section two at the Ridgewood Cemetery in Carthage.</p><p><br></p><p>Military Chapel services for the Navy veteran will be conducted by the American Legion Post 57 of Carthage.</p><p><br></p><p>The Preuitt family will receive friends at Sanderson in Carthage on Thursday September 5th from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Friday from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services.</p><p><br></p><p>He was the youngest and last surviving of four children, two daughters and two sons and was born Raymond Clyde Preuitt in Higginsville in Lafayette County, Missouri on May 24, 1941 and was the son of the late Ernest Snell Preuitt who died at the age of 100 on April 6, 2011 and Margaret Elizabeth Piepmeyer Preuitt who died at the age of 85 on September 4, 1996.</p><p><br></p><p>He was preceded in death by two daughters, Debra Lanham Dalton who died in October of 2017 at the age of 51 and Margie Preuitt who died in San Diego, California at the age of 2.</p><p><br></p><p>His three siblings also preceded him in death, DeMaye Preuitt DeForrest, Shelia Preuitt Haynes and John Preuitt.</p><p><br></p><p>Mr. Preuitt was a recipient of his General Education Degree.</p><p><br></p><p>At the Green Hills Country Club in the Riddleton Community, he was united in marriage to Clifton, Texas native, the former Rita Gaynell Leck. The ceremony was performed on March 20, 2004 by Eld. James “Pee Wee” Massey.</p><p><br></p><p>The Preuitt’s were the former owners and operators of the Pleasant Shade Café before selling it to Franklin and Francis Fields Grandstaff in 2022.</p><p><br></p><p>His family attended the Cornerstone Baptist Church in the Tanglewood Community.</p><p><br></p><p>Mr. Preuitt for many years transported mail by truck from Kansas City, Missouri to Dallas, Texas. He retired in May of 2004 from U. S. F. Holland where he was an over the road driver and his total transportation career spanned over thirty-five years.</p><p><br></p><p>Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Kimberly Preuitt DeMersseman and husband Jon of Greenville, South Carolina, Lisa Wilkerson and husband David of the Pleasant Shade Community, Candyce Nolte and husband Tim of Hartsville; seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p>The Preuitt family requests memorials to the Cornerstone Baptist Church Building Fund.</p><p><br></p><p>Pallbearers: Dakota McGee, Dustin, Clayton, Bradley &amp; Nathan Doss, Trey Dalton</p><p><br></p>
