Rozalia "Rose" Lindinger

Rozalia “Rose” Lindinger, 87 of West Suffield, CT passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024.

Rozalia answered to many names - Rose, Grandma Rose, Mama, Momsie, and of course Mom. Call her what you may; she was the sassiest and didn’t hesitate to tell you what was on her mind. She made quite a presence everywhere she went.

Mom was incredibly proud of her family and loved informing people of her 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Each held a very special place in her heart.

Mom was born September 6,1936 in Budapest and lived through WWII in Hungary, escaping to Austria with her immediate family during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. They eventually found their way to Connecticut via Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. While she didn’t share many stories of the atrocities of war she witnessed growing up, she was quick to remind us all of how fortunate we have been to grow up in America and how blessed she felt to be here. Her perseverance and strong work ethic have been emblazoned in all of us – along with that stubborn Hungarian attitude!

Her legacy will carry on in the eyes of her family, and her infamous Mama Chicken which she cooked for nearly every family party. She loved life, and above all - having her family around her.

She was predeceased by her husbands Sandor Barko and George Lindinger, and special friend Rudi Szlavi; her parents Paul and Rozalia (Nemedi) Bartha, brother Paul Bartha, sister Eva Bartus, and granddaughters Katherine and Amanda Barko.

Mom is survived by her children Alexander Barko, Jr. (Iris), Laszlo Barko (Loreen), Rosemary Lester (David), Miki Lindinger (Stephanie); Grandchildren Erika (Thom), Jessica, Alex (Juliette), Kristina, Jenna, Kurt, Sophia, Stephen; great-grandchildren Connor, Cassandra, Kyla, Ryan, Elliot, Kelsey; and special niece Maggie Musumeci (Sal).

Special thank you to the many that cared for Mom over the years.

Her family will receive friends on Friday, August 30, 2024 from 5-7 PM at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St., N. (Rt. 159), Suffield. Family and friends may gather on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 9:00 AM at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, Suffield. Burial will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
