Maxwell Rhodes Trimper

On August 23, 2024, Max Trimper was freed from his 22 year battle against Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD), passing away at the age of 29.

Max was born on April 29, 1995 to Jane and Jeff Trimper. He was a healthy and happy young boy in spite of how little his parents knew about having a child. Max did a very good job training them for which they are grateful. He was a wonderful big brother to his sister, Maddie and his brother Sam. He loved to play outside and went to bed each night with a giant pile of books. Max filled the home with Pokemon, dalmatians, and Land Before Time characters.

At the age of 7, Max was diagnosed with MLD, a disease that would change this family forever. As Max slowly lost abilities and faced incredible challenges, he continued to live a life of joy. His sense of humor and smile defined how he lived each day. He enjoyed spending time with his family and taking trips up north and to Florida. He loved watching movies and any Nickelodeon show. He enjoyed family stories that were retold countless times. Though he could no longer speak, Max never seemed to miss a bit of what was going on around him.

Max will be greatly missed by his grandmothers; Marcia Trimper and Claudia Rhode, his aunts, uncles and cousins, his lucky parents; Jeff and Jane Trimper and the best little brother a guy could have, Sam Trimper.

Jane, Jeff, and Sam are asking for no memorial donations. Their community, friends and family have been so extraordinarily generous with them over the years and have carried them through so much. If you would like to honor Max’s memory, please do a random act of kindness for someone (you could also root for the Lions).

“Max, you are our sweet, handsome, tough and tired son; you will be incredibly missed. But it’s time to say good-bye. Grandpa Rhode is shuffling the cards. Grandpa Trimper is ready to show you his garden. And best of all, Maddie is ready to take your hand and go for a long walk.” Love, Mom & Dad.

Visitation for Max is being held on Wednesday, August 28th from 12 Noon to 2 PM and from 4 PM to 7 PM, at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Stanton (225 W. Cedar St.). A private family funeral ceremony and graveside service will be held at a later date.
