<p>Lorraine Nordquist, (nee Garrison) 87, passed away peacefully on Friday August 16, surrounded by her loving family.</p><p><br></p><p>Born and raised in Jersey City, Lorraine taught braille for blind students for many years for the Jersey City Board of Education. She was deeply passionate about her work and it showed tremendously by the relationships she established with her students and their families.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Lorraine was a true country music fan, particularly of Elvis Presley and George Jones. You could catch her playing their tapes at any time of the day. She was a lifelong Yankees fan and a true “Jersey girl”. She loved the Jersey Shore beaches, visiting Lake George and was an avid reader, plant and dog lover.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Lorraine is predeceased by her parents Frank and Margaret Garrison, her companion George Witterschein, her sisters Janice and Ann (Bunny),her brothers Frank (Butchie) and Robert (Gabby), brother in law Mark Tourtillott and sister in law Kathleen Garrison.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her six children and their spouses; Bernie Nordquist (Diane), Lorrie Hadfield (Joe), Jimmy Nordquist (Gina), Janice Walsh (Patrick), Michael Nordquist (Michelle) and Frank Daly (Eileen). Her Grandchildren, Nicole, Danielle, Jett and Jake Nordquist, Jillian Mongiardini (Matt), Shelby and Kayla Hadfield, Shannon and Patrick Walsh, Morgan Bergman (Adam), Shane and Ashley Nordquist, Frankie Daly Jr., Jeffrey Tolomei and Daniel Gianitti. She was blessed with her great grandchildren, Siena and Emilia Mongiardini, as well as two more on the way this September.</p><p><br></p><p>Her brothers Jimmy Garrison (Sabina), Billy Garrison (Midge), John Garrison and sister Evelyn Hrunka (Joe), Cathy Tourtillott, her lovely sister in law Joanie Garrison, as well as special family members Cathy and Marcelo Mejia.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>A viewing will take place on Tuesday, August 20th, from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Greenville Memorial Home, located at 374 Danforth Avenue, Jersey City.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 21st at 10:00am at St. Paul’s R.C. Church located at 14 Greenville Avenue, Jersey City. Cremation will take place privately. The ashes will be interred at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington on Thursday, August 22nd at 1:30 PM. </p><p><br></p><p><br></p>
