<p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Carol Jean (Reinan) Brungardt passed away at 86 years old on July 6, 2024 after a long period of declining health following a broken hip in March. </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Carol was born in Mayville, ND on November 24, 1937 to Milton and Alice (Stockmoe) Reinan.&nbsp; Carol’s Father passed away when she was 2 years old, and her Mother remarried Harry Reinan some years following. </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Carol was raised during WWII and lived many places in ND as well as Portland, OR before her family returned to Blanchard, ND.&nbsp; Carol graduated from Hunter, ND High School, and received her degree in Nursing from the University of North Dakota. Carol left North Dakota to pursue her career in Denver, CO, where she was very successful, becoming a head nurse at Colorado General Hospital.&nbsp; It was in Denver at a Polka dance where she met her love – Robert Brungardt, they married in 1961.&nbsp; Bob &amp; Carol had two sons, and raised them in the Denver area until they decided to move back to North Dakota in 1974.&nbsp; It was here that Carol found her second career as a Nursing Instructor.&nbsp; &nbsp;She also&nbsp; earned her Master’s in Nursing from St. Mary’s in Bismarck.&nbsp; Carol loved teaching nursing, and enjoyed watching her students succeed in their careers.&nbsp; Carol retired in 2002 to enjoy family, grandchildren, travel and the lake cabin on Lake Lida.&nbsp; Bob &amp; Carol loved keeping up with family and traveled to many graduations, confirmations, and weddings from their large extended families.&nbsp; Carol was the ultimate hostess – whether at the lake for a drop in group of 20, or for a Thanksgiving feast for 80.&nbsp; Carol always said no one should be alone on a holiday, and would invite friends and students as well as family.&nbsp;&nbsp; </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Carol was all about connection – she would spend hours on the phone keeping up with how everyone was doing.&nbsp; She loved visits, coffee, playing cards or any opportunity to catch up. </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp; Carol is survived by her Sister Linda (Roger) Erickson of Portland ND, Her Sons Jeff (Errin) of Esko, MN and Chris (Lisa Sankey) of West Fargo, ND.&nbsp; Her Grandchildren Kara (Tom) Schneider, Robert/Bobby (Lu) Brungardt, Elaina (Jacob) Fronden, Isaac Hintsala, Max Brungardt.&nbsp; Her six great-grandchildren Eleanor, Eli, Zachary, Dorothy, Harper, and Walter – Numerous beloved Brothers and Sisters in law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins and dear friends. </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp; She was preceded in death by husband Robert/Bob Brungardt, her parents Milton, Harry and Alice (Stockmoe) Reinan, brother Jerry Reinan, sister Joan (Reinan) Svaleson </p><p>&nbsp; </p><p>Memorials would be welcome at Cystic Fibrosis Foundation – cff.org </p><p>&nbsp; </p><p>Special thanks to Sanford and Bethany on University for the care given to Carol in her final weeks.&nbsp;&nbsp; </p><p>&nbsp; </p><p>Visitation: Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.&nbsp; </p><p>Prayer Service:&nbsp; Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 7:00 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND. </p><p>Memorial Service: Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Lutheran Church of the Cross, West Fargo, ND. </p><p>Burial:&nbsp; Hunter Cemetery following the service. </p><p>West Funeral Home &amp; Life Tribute Center </p><p>westfuneralhome.com </p>
