Doris A Pichette

Doris Pichette of Sturbridge passed away peacefully at Whitney Place in Northborough on July 2, 2024 at the age of 92. Born in Southbridge, she lived in town for many years before moving to Attleborough in the early 70’s, then eventually moved back to the area in 1988 to be closer to her brother for whom she provided immeasurable support and assistance when his health failed. She happily settled at Sturbridge Hills, into a home and community that she absolutely loved.

Beloved aunt of Joanne Normandin and her husband Jeff Langan, Robert Normandin and his wife Jennifer, and Donald Normandin, for all of whom she was like a second mother. Also the beloved aunt of Anne Marie Sweeney and her husband Russell. She leaves many other nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins and friends in the US and in Canada. All of them meant the world to her.

She was predeceased by her parents, Napoleon and Rose Normandin, her brother Eugene Normandin, her first husband, Levi Hufault, to whom she was happily married for 12 years, and her second husband, Fernand Pichette, to whom she was happily married for 50 years

In her younger years, she worked two jobs and also helped care for her parents. After marrying Fernand, she became a full-time homemaker, and she took that job very seriously. She took great pride in keeping a clean and attractive home, and making sure her husband was well fed (and boy was he!). But she also made their house a home for anyone who walked through the door. She always had drinks and snacks on standby and enough food in the freezer to feed any number of guests.

Doris and her husband Fernand spent many happy winters in Boynton Beach, Florida and enjoyed visiting family in Canada every fall.

She was a very sociable person and maintained a wide circle of friends and always tried to keep in touch with everyone she ever met.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

Calling hours will be Saturday, July 13 from 8:30-9:30 AM at Sansoucy Funeral Home, 40 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA, followed by a funeral Mass at 10AM at Saint Anne’s Church in Sturbridge, followed by the burial at Notre Dame Cemetery in Southbridge.
