<p>John P. Smith, 52, of Camden, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. He was born in Rome on January 12, 1972, a son of the late Samuel and Pauline (Marshall) Smith. On January 21, 1995, he was united in marriage to Melissa L. Tilton.</p><p><br></p><p>John was a five-star auto technician at Victory Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Rome for several years. He loved working on cars, even on his own time. He always needed a project.</p><p><br></p><p>He was a member of the Hillsboro Baptist Church. John enjoyed golfing at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course, fishing, going on cruises, and taking long rides on his Kawasaki Vulcan. He loved to tell a good joke and he was a tremendous storyteller.</p><p><br></p><p>Surviving besides his loving wife, Melissa, are three sisters, Melissa Yager (Todd), Rebecca Hopler (Michael), and Amy Jo Mulvaney (James); a brother, Samuel S. Smith (Caroline); mother-in-law. Debbie French (Dale Gaut); father-in-law, Newton Tilton; sister-in-law, Kelly Walker (John Leonard); and brothers-in-law, Newton Tilton (Sandra) and James Titlon; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; special friends, Paul Uvanni and James and Val Fuller; and his dogs, Zoey, Luna and his favorite, Whiskey. He was predeceased by a brother, Harry Smith; sister-in-law, Pamela Tilton; and dogs, Tater, Luke, Kasey and Max.</p><p><br></p><p>Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 9464 State Rt. 13, Camden NY 13316, on Monday, July 1st from 4-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 2nd at 10:30 a.m. followed by interment in Hillsboro Cemetery.
