David L. Drozd passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024, due to cancer. He was the beloved son of Patricia (Patti) and the late John, brother of Jonathan (fiancée Marissa Azzarello), cousin of Dr. Tamara Sanchez and Peter Moon of California and friend to many.

David was a loving and thoughtful son that would purchase household items for his mother so it would "make her life easier". Christmas was always a special time for David as a child and an adult. He enjoyed “giving" in the celebration of Jesus' birth.

Dave graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in business management. Fox, as many friends called him, was a passionate sports fan. Sans 2005, 2010, 2013, and 2015, he inherited the misery of being a diehard White Sox and Blackhawk fan. He was also a huge Patriots fan.

Dave loved music of all genres. The word fan is derived from the Latin word Fanum (sanctuary temple), and the Oxford language dictionary defines this as a person with excessive and single-minded zeal. A person with an obsessive interest and enthusiasm for something - that would describe Dave's love of Pearl Jam. This translated to being an early member of the 10 Club. Dave would see Pearl Jam dozens of times in various cities and befriended many people across the country and on other continents. They were all interconnected through the vocals, lyrics, and mountainous rifts from the band they all loved.

For still and now never to be known reasons, Dave loved penguins - especially Emperor Penguins. Finally, Dave had a wonderful sense of humor and a way about him that connected him to strangers (Yellow 7) that became friends. He was a thoughtful and caring person and will be missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, Masses are appreciated or please consider donations to Stand Up to Cancer and the Global Penguin Society though the Wildlife Conservation Network (Kellyn@wildnet.org). Please make sure to note ALL funds donated should be directed to the care and conservation of penguins and not for administrative or other unrelated costs.

Visitation to be held on Sunday, June 23rd from 3:00 until 7:00 pm at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave., Darien, where prayers will be said Monday, June 24th at 9:15am immediately followed by procession to Our Lady of Peace Church, 701 Plainfield Rd., Darien for 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial. Interment at Clarendon Hills Cemetery.
