Michelle Denise Recek

With profound love and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of Michelle Denise Recek, who was affectionately known by her loved ones as Shelly. Born on May 9, 1970, in Seguin, Texas, Michelle was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her. She completed her earthly journey on June 9, 2024, in La Grange, Texas, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.

Michelle's early life in Seguin laid the foundation for a lifetime of learning and teaching. She pursued her passion for education at Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State University, where she earned her degree in Education in 1992. Her commitment to nurturing young minds was evident in her 31-year career as a public school teacher, which included service at Manor, LaVernia, Round Rock, Elgin, and Weimar school districts. She dedicated the last 19 years of her career to the students of La Grange ISD, where she was not only a teacher but also a mentor and friend to many.

Her love story with Marcus Recek is one for the ages, and together they built a life filled with joy and purpose. Michelle was a devoted mother to her three children, Natalie, Jessica, and Jeffrey, imparting her values of love, compassion, and education. She was also a cherished daughter-in-law to Rose Recek and a loving sister-in-law to James & Pat Recek, Gary & Pauline Recek, and Evelyn Recek. Michelle held a special place in her heart for her brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill & Sally Evans, Timmy & Linda Evans, Randy & Patricia Evans, and Wayne & Shane Evans, as well as her numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stuart W. & Eleonore Evans, father-in-law Anton Recek, and brother-in-law Bubba Hluchan.

Michelle's faith was the cornerstone of her life. As an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she found solace and strength. Her involvement with the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Altar Society, and KJT allowed her to extend her caring spirit beyond her immediate circle. Michelle's love for her community was matched only by her love for her family and friends.

Those who knew Michelle will remember her as a loving, thoughtful, and passionate individual. She had a profound impact on countless lives through her work and volunteerism. Her legacy is one of kindness, dedication, and unwavering faith. Michelle's interests were a reflection of her love for life; she found joy in spending time with her family and friends and cherished trips to the beach where the sun and waves offered moments of peace and reflection.

As we bid farewell to Michelle, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in the lives she touched. She was a guiding light for her students, a caring hand for her friends, and a loving heart for her family.
