Patricia "Patty" Curry

Patricia “Patty” Curry, 51 of Richmond, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 2, 2024. She is preceded in death by her father, Arthur G. Curry. Patty is survived by her mother, Angela Curry; sisters, Margaret Aldridge (Paul), Susan Curry (Steve) and Jacqueline Curry (Ogochukwu); nephews, Jacob Talley, Sam Aldridge, Jonathan Aldridge and Maxwell Obele; and niece, Lillian Obele.

Patty would best be described as genuine. She always told the truth, whether or not you were prepared for it. And it was usually hilarious. She was also very caring and considerate. She always remembered and asked about how friends, family and acquaintances were doing. Friendly! There wasn't anyone in the room that she didn't think she should introduce herself to. She was always so outgoing.

Sports, sports and sports! Patty loved all sports, but football was in her blood. She was the manager for her high school football team, but before that and ever since she spent every Sunday watching her beloved Redskins. She was the most avid Redskins fan! Clinton Portis was her all-time favorite.

Patty has left an indelible mark on our hearts. Patty always had a pure joy and pure innocence about her, but also delivered hilarious comments that no one saw coming! But Patty has also been through a lot of difficult times, especially the loss of her father and ongoing mental health challenges. And whatever she was going through, her smile and her innocence would always shine through. Patty has taught us to navigate difficult times with truth, laughter, flirting, hugs, cheesecake, and most importantly, love. Her favorite color was pink. She loved dogs, especially Shadow, Junior, Topaz, Toby, & Milo.

Patty had some developmental disabilities, but she never let that stop her. When she decided that she wanted to do something, she did it! One day she was determined that she should attend college. So she went to Germanna Community College on her own, signed up for every art class available to her, created beautiful artwork, and completed her certificate. Her art was even selected and showcased in a local gallery. She could overcome any limitation with her sheer willpower and was always determined to get what she wanted. No obstacle was too big for Patty!

Patty would want to hug everyone, flirt with all the boys, and ask how you were doing. She would want to tell each of us that we were her favorite, because she genuinely could not measure the love that she had.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 2700 Dolfield Drive, North Chesterfield, on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 1:00 pm, where the family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, in Oak Hill Cemetery, 1902 Plank Road, Fredericksburg at 10:00 am.

Patricia was sweet, kind and forgiving of my shortcomings. She's left a huge hole in this world, but what a ray of joy she must be shining on the next
