<p>Maureen Frances Demars Bokma, 93, of Lewistown, MT passed away peacefully at home on May 14, 2024 of natural causes in Meridian, ID.</p><p><br></p><p>Maureen was born to Frank B. and Pansy B. (Holt) Demars in Denton, MT, and was raised on the family ranch south of Coffee Creek, MT, surrounded by dozens of extended family members of three generations. She attended several country schools around Coffee Creek and Denton, then graduated from Fergus High School in Lewistown in 1947 at age 16. She attended college at Eastern Montana College in Billings, Western Montana College in Dillon, and Montana State College in Bozeman. After receiving her teaching certificate, she taught elementary classes in Moore, Harlowton, Conrad, and Coffee Creek, as well as many years of substitute teaching in Denton and Lewistown. Her love of teaching was long-lived.</p><p><br></p><p>In 1954, Maureen married Benjamin LaVerne Bokma (of Conrad) at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Lewistown. They lived on and near various bases during LaVerne’s years as a pilot in the Air Force. In 1957, they returned to the family farm west of Conrad. In 1959, they moved to Maureen’s family farm/ranch south of Coffee Creek near Denton. They raised four children: David, Randy, Teresa, and Lori. They remained in Denton, farming with their son, Randy (Kelly) and his family until their retirement in 2005. Vern and Maureen then moved to Lewistown.</p><p><br></p><p>She loved making and selling waffle cones at community events around the area. She loved sewing to create original design western-style pillows and other western items to be treasured by family and friends and the many who bought her creations. Maureen had a love for music. She was quite an accomplished pianist, playing for enjoyment for herself and others fortunate enough to listen for most of her life. She played with country bands around the area in her younger years. Maureen also loved to write poetry, stories, and family history over the years. Her many stories and poems are treasured by family and friends. She had many years of participating and attending The Cowboy Poetry Event in Lewistown.</p><p><br></p><p>Maureen moved to Idaho in 2015 to live with her daughters, Teresa (Terri) and Lori and their families. She enjoyed her last years in Idaho and her many visits to Montana, Washington, the family farm south of Coffee Creek, and the Central Montana area where she grew up and loved so much.</p><p><br></p><p>Maureen is preceded to heaven by her husband, LaVerne. She is survived by her children: David (friend Ronda), Randy (Kelly), Terri (Pete) Koehler, Lori Heiden; grandchildren, Michael (Bre) Bokma, Tyler (Annie) Bokma, Jenna (Zach) Appel, Conner (Ashley) Bokma, McKinley Koehler, Chase Heiden, Andrew (fiancé Samantha) Heiden, and Julia Heiden; great-grandchildren, Collins Bokma, Grayson Appel, Emersyn Appel, Tinley Bokma, Tate Bokma, Jake Rohr, and Hunter Rohr.</p><p><br></p><p>Graveside service will be Saturday, June 15th, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lewistown, MT. Following the committal, family and friends are invited to join us at Brooks Market in Lewistown.
