<p>Deacon Neptune Melvin Goggins went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.</p><p><br></p><p>Deacon Neptune Melvin Goggins was born August 27, 1931, to the late Leonard Sr., and Marguerite Goggins (nee Finley) in Jacksonville, Florida. Deacon Goggins was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Lee Key Goggins; sons, Nathaniel, Larry, and Curtis; brothers, Leonard Jr., Horace, Raphael, Sherman and, Hillman; and sisters, Berniece, Catherine, and Seneca.</p><p><br></p><p>Deacon Neptune Melvin Goggins attended Long Branch School in his youth and continued his education in the Duval County School System of Jacksonville, Florida.</p><p><br></p><p>Deacon Neptune Goggins began working for the International Long Shoreman Association (Local 1408) on March 6, 1963 under the leadership of Union President, Landon Williams and Union President, Charles Spencer, where he formally retired in March 1996, but he continued working after retirement.</p><p><br></p><p>Deacon Neptune Melvin Goggins was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church under the present leadership of Pastor John DeVoe. He served as a faithful Deacon and Sunday School Teacher and he was a member of the Male Chorus and Grace Baptist Church Choir.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his children, Alphonso (Gwendolyn), Elder Melvin (Betty), Vanessa Gail Allen (Robert), Sandra Yvonne Rackley, Brenda Denise Dorsey, Vernese McClendon, Howard Jenkins (Wanda), Horace Jenkins; brother, Delma Christopher Goggins Sr.; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.</p>August 27, 1931 - August 8, 202308/27/193108/08/2023
