<p>James Dunn Mather Jr. known as JD was born in Jacksonville, Florida on August 18, 1939, to Sarah Carlton and James Dunn Mather Sr. </p><p> </p><p>James attended schools in Fernanda Beach, Florida, FAMU in Tallahassee, Florida and Pace University in New York and received his degrees in Industrial Engineering and Accounting.</p><p><br></p><p>James later met and married Shirley Mather in San Jose, California on April 13, 1990. He really enjoyed studying the Bible about God’s purpose for mankind which changed his life at the age of 76. He publicly dedicated his life and was baptized on June 25, 2016 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. </p><p><br></p><p>The forces of failing health overtook James March 12, 2022, late Saturday evening as he fell asleep in death. He was preceded in death by his son, James Dunn Mather III; father, James Dunn Mather Sr.; mother, Sarah Carlton; grandmother, Lizzie Johnson; and aunt, Ophelia Wright.</p><p><br></p><p>James is survived by and leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Shirley Mather; son, Leon Mather (wife, Hanna); daughter, Cecilia McGee (husband, David); son, David Mather (wife, Morgan); daughters, Kenyata Brown and Louneesha Wilson; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>The funeral service for James Dunn Mather Jr. will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 26th, 2022 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden-Fernandina Beach, 410 Beech Street Fernandina Beach, FL 32034. Interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery, Friday, March 25, 2022 at 10:00A.M.
