John Robert Brown

John “Bob” Robert Brown Jr., age 91 of Harrison passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Gladwin Pines, Gladwin, Michigan. John was born March 24, 1931 in Harrison the son of John Robert Brown Sr. and Alice L. (Hanna) Brown. Bob graduated from Harrison Community Schools in 1949, Bob excelled in basketball during his high school years with a high score of 42 points. Mr. Brown was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Ms. Joan L. Jeffries on March 18, 1950 in Harrison. Mrs. Brown preceded Bob in death on April 18, 2015, after sixty-five years of marriage. <br> Mr. Brown had resided in Harrison the entirety of his life. He retired from Dow Chemical of Midland after 32 years of service as a Journeyman Carpenter. Bob enjoyed golfing and had a hole in one on hole #4 at The Tamaracks golf course in 1999, hunting, shooting archery, yearly hunting trips to Drummond Island with his friends, watching televised golf tournaments. He was very meticulous about the care he gave his well-groomed yard and floral beds for many years. Bob’s most memorable time was spent with his family.<br> Mr. Brown is survived by his two loving children: Jan Ashcroft and husband Joseph of Harrison and Joseph Brown and wife Mary Ellen also of Harrison, seven grandchildren: Patrick Ashcroft, Joseph Ashcroft Jr. and wife Dr. Joni Ashcroft, Kayla Brown who was Grandpa’s birthday buddy sharing the same birthday, Lauren Shepardson and husband Noah, Dr. Alexa Boulton and husband Brent, Kylie Brown and companion Rick Plunkett and Payton Brown and companion Dakota Godfrey, ten great-grandchildren: Haylie Klusack, Triston Klusack Peyton Shepardson, Maddon Shepardson, Kemper Shepardson, Lennox Shepardson, Carter Sproessig, Cameron Ashcroft, Logan Ashcroft and Avery Jean Boulton, daughter-in-law, Gloria Morse and husband Ron, plus many nieces, nephews and extended family. Mr. Brown also was preceded in death by his parents, one son, James Robert Brown, one granddaughter, Shanae Marie Brown and two sisters: Dorothy Ashcraft and Margaret Legge. <br> Celebration of Life services for Mr. Brown will be held Monday, August 8, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from Clark-Stocking Funeral Chapel and Cremation Service Inc., 165 West Oak Street, Harrison. A time of sharing memories will take place on Monday, August 8, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Inurnment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Harrison.
