Barbara Ann CollumBarbara Gargus Collum, 85, of Oneonta, passed away Friday, November 12, 2021 at St. Vincent’s East Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama. She was a graduate of Oneonta High School, class of 1955 and played in the marching band. Graduating with her daughter in 1985 from the Nursing program at Wallace State Community College, Hanceville, she was employed at UAB until retirement. She and her husband, Jimmie enjoyed spending time traveling to different areas on vacations, including a memorable trip to the Grand Canyon. She also enjoyed reading, music, word puzzles, gardening and was an avid Auburn Tigers fan. A life-long member of Oneonta’s First Baptist Church, where she sang with the choir for several years. She is survived by husband Jimmie Collum, Oneonta; daughter Laura Roberson (Wayman), Oneonta; Grandsons Bradley Robertson, Walnut Grove and Brian Roberson (Krystal), Hayden; great grandsons Benjamin, Thomas and Tobias Roberson, Hayden. One Brother, Charles Gargus (Shirley), Eastaboga, AL; Special brother-in law and sister-in- laws Jim and Kathleen Phillips, Straight Mountain; one nephew, Jim W. Phillips (Krystie), Reno NV. She was preceded by son Larry Collum and parents Orley V. Gargus and Ora Bell Bradley Royal. After a private ceremony, Mrs. Collum will be interred at Oak Hill Cemetery, near her son. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to Oneonta Publice Library, or the Blunt County Animal Shelter in her memory.
