Annette Lumsden

Mary “Annette” Lumsden was born December 8, 1945 to Neva and Leland Jamar and departed from this life at her home in Bloomfield, Missouri on May 13, 2021 at the age of 75 surrounded by those who loved her deeply. Annette graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1963. After high school, she attended college at San Jose State in California, Mizzou, Murray State, and later graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in education in 1975. She was united in marriage to Stan Lumsden on August 29, 1965. They were married for 55 years. She and Stan have three children, Lara (Tony) Thorn, Boyd (Susanne) Lumsden and Ann (Brad) Aycock. Stan and Annette also have seven grandchildren, Maggie (Logan) Lowery, Sophia Thorn, Will Thorn, Quinton Lumsden, Addy Lumsden, Daniel Aycock and Ryan Aycock; and two great grandchildren, Loretta and Ruby Lowery. Annette’s love for life and laughter was infectious to all those around her. She was gifted with the ability to be everyone’s cheerleader- she could see talents in others and encouraged those talents with her words and actions. She was an example to those closest to her by showing the importance of not taking life too seriously and embracing the power of laughing at oneself. These were most evident in her social media videos from recent years. Annette was generous with her time, her talents, and her resources. She has left a legacy for her family by teaching the importance of giving freely to things that stir your soul. Annette also taught us the importance of taking pictures, all of the pictures. Annette loved to share her appreciation for getting outside in nature to notice all of God’s creations, from beautiful trees to the hatching of wood ducks. Annette enjoyed being with her friends and held these relationships closely. Annette’s life was filled with many passions. She worked for several years at Bloomfield School teaching middle school English, the “gifted” program and the Parents As Teachers program before retiring in 2007. Annette was very active in her community with such organizations as the Jaycee Wives, Bloomfield Action Team (BAT), Women’s Club, Stoddard County Health Center Board, Mother-to-Mother Program and especially Trinity United Methodist Church. She also had a deep passion for arts and crafts, flowers, birds, photography, cooking, singing, writing, painting and social media. In recent years, she developed a passion for Pickleball and encouraged many in the area to join in this love. Annette’s greatest passion was encouraging and deeply loving her family. Annette valued laughter and never missed an opportunity for an adventure with friends and family. We will all miss her greatly. Annette was preceded in death by her parents, Neva and Leland Jamar and her brother, Robert “Bob” Jamar. Friends and family can pay their respects at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, Missouri on Monday, May 17, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., with funeral to follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
