James "Jim" Wintz, 90, passed away in Seattle, Washington on March 30th, 2021. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Jeanne, of Seattle, Washington, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and many loving friends. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Jack and Bob, and four sisters, Betty, Peg, Mary and Dorothy Ann. Jim was born on September 11, 1930, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late John Aloysius Wintz, Sr,. & Margaret Cecelia McKenna Wintz. He graduated from Loyola High School and Loyola College in Baltimore in 1952. In high school and college, he excelled in football, baseball and basketball. After serving in the U.S. Army in Korea, he studied theology and philosophy at Woodstock College, a Jesuit seminary in Woodstock, Maryland. In 1972, he received his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. Jim met the love of his life, Jeanne, in Washington, D.C., and they were married in 1970. They enjoyed 51 wonderful years together. In 1972, Jim and Jeanne moved to Seattle and established a group home for adolescent girls which they operated for several years. Following that, Jim began working for Highline West Seattle Mental Health Center as a clinical social worker, where he counseled individuals and also developed a celebrated program teaching Anger Management techniques. He retired in 2001 and pursued his lifelong hobbies of gardening and woodworking. A viewing will be held on April 12th from 10-11am at St. Anthony Parish in Renton, Washington, with a funeral mass following at 11am. Father Jack Shrum will officiate at the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jim’s life.
