Patrice Halas

Patrice was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in the parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. It was there that she received her sacraments, attended school and formed lifelong friends – a trait that she is known for in all stages of her life. Summers were spent in her beloved Breezy Point - her “happy place.” Patrice’s love of family and friends, surf and sun were evident at the beach, while lifeguarding, swimming, strolling, sunning and gathering in a circle with her cherished family and friends. Happy conversations, competitive games, many refreshments, the sound of the crashing waves and the spectacular and serene sunsets would draw her to the shore for countless days. The end of summer seasons were celebrated under Patrice’s loving leadership and creative productions for the annual Mardi Gras parade. Patrice was an outstanding athlete lettering in three sports at Bishop Kearney High School; volleyball, swimming and basketball. She was a starter on the New York State championship basketball team. She played two years of volleyball at the College of the Holy Cross. After college Patrice became an endurance athlete completing the Boston, New York City and Belfast marathons and many triathlon and road race competitions, especially at Breezy Point. As a student, Patrice was an honors student in high school and a double major (economics and French) at Holy Cross. She completed her MBA at The University of Rhode Island finishing as the top student in her class. Patrice’s work career included banking, sports management and financial planning. Patrice made a lasting impact on the White Plains community through her tireless volunteer efforts at Our Lady of Sorrows School and Archbishop Stepinac High School. At OLS she served as Chair of the Executive Board, Chair of the School Book Fair and Class parent. She was also a member of the Fall Fundraiser committee, the Spring Raffle committee and the Women’s Guild. At Stepinac, Patrice was a member and VP of the Lady Crusaders. She was also a member of the Spring Luncheon committee and the Stepinac Celebration committee. She served as a parent ambassador for Stepinac Admissions and was the Stepinac Football Team Mom in 2019. Patrice was a faithful member of the White Plains Rosary Group. Patrice was inducted into the Bishop Kearney Hall of Fame. She is also the recipient of the In Te Domine Speravi Award from Stepinac for outstanding service and dedication in May of 2020. Patrice, affectionately known as Tika to family and friends, is survived by her husband Wally Halas of White Plains, whom she married June 19, 1998 in Breezy Point, NY. She is also survived by her son Matthew, her mother Bridget “Betty” Jones, her stepchildren; Michael (Corrie) of Winnetka, IL, John (Morgan) of Orlando, FL, and Jaclyn (Charles) of White Plains, her brother Gerard (Debra) Jones, her two sisters Debra (Robert) Ryan and Nancy (Bruce) Jones, and grandchildren Monroe Halas, and Allie and Nora Rauch. Patrice is predeceased by her father, Robert C. Jones, and her brother, Rev. Robert C. Jones C.Ss.R. Visiting hours are Tuesday 2-7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday 11am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in White Plains. Please note that space is limited at the church. Also, masks are required, and we ask that you maintain social distance. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Patrice's memory to Our Lady of Sorrows School or Archbishop Stepinac High School.
