G. Cindy (Gilbert) Jacovitch, 72, of Midland, and former longtime Hemlock resident, died Thursday morning, November 19, 2020 at Bickford of Midland. She was born July 28, 1948 in Saginaw, the daughter of Delbert and Nelle (Snyder) Gilbert. Cindy was a 1966 graduate of Hemlock High School and had attended Delta College. On July 11, 1970 she married Paul T. Jacovitch in Hemlock. He preceded her in death after 42 years of marriage on November 26, 2012. Cindy was a member of St. John XXIII Parish - St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Cindy enjoyed family gatherings during the holidays, family cookouts, and music performed by family members. Cindy was known for baking cookies, cakes and other goodies for loved ones on their birthdays, holidays or any occasion. She also enjoyed flower gardening, watching sports, and playing cards. She was a dedicated volunteer at her church and the community. Cindy was named Saginawian of the Year in 2000, and also received the “Celebrate Partners” Award in 1998. Her more than 10,000 hours of volunteering over 20 years working with the Hemlock Public Schools and aiding in the Rauchholz Memorial Library “Story Hour” demonstrated her kind and giving attitude. She is survived by her daughter Heidi (Michael) Lind of Midland, siblings Della Gaul, Jenelle (Gary) Bartlett of Mt. Pleasant, Gilbert Gilbert of Lake City, Dern (Marsha) Gilbert of Saginaw; grandsons Jacoby, Sullivan; her sister-in-law Cindy Gilbert of Hemlock and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband Paul, she was preceded in death by her brother Fred Gilbert. Visitation will take place from 3-5 pm Tuesday at Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street, Midland MI, with graveside services at Roselawn Cemetery, Saginaw MI on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 11 am. Visitation and graveside services are limited to 25 people at one time, and social distancing and face mask rules under health department guidelines will be followed. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Bickford of Midland for their care of Cindy during the past seven years.
