Marian Biers

A Life Well Lived Marian Helen (Dunne) Biers, 98, of Golden, died peacefully of natural causes early Thursday morning, November 19, 2020 at St. Anthony's Hospital, Lakewood. She died as she lived...in a State of Grace. Marian was born August 18, 1922 in Chicago, Illinois, to Estelle (Gintowt) and Walter Dunne. Marian joined the Navy at age 21 and after proudly serving her country during both World War II and the Korean War, she was honorably discharged as Chief Petty Officer on August 27, 1952. As a civilian she worked various jobs, including at the Pentagon in Washington DC; as a comparison shopper for Loehmann's Retail Store in Lombard, IL and as a customer service representative for Daubert Industries Inc. in Oak Brook, IL. Marian lived in Glen Ellyn, IL for 30 years where she raised her family and then moved with her husband to Almont, CO in 1995 to be close to their daughter and family. In her retirement years, she travelled the world, including two voyages on the Queen Mary. After the passing of her husband Reginald, she moved from Gunnison in 2013 to Golden. Here, she enjoyed "being in the middle of life," listening to the creek, shopping, reading books, watching movies, watching storms roll in, enjoying cocktail hours, and spending quality time with friends and family. One of her most exciting and rewarding experiences was travelling on the Rocky Mountain Honor Flight with her fellow veterans to Washington DC in October 2015. As a quiet leader, Marian exuded love, warmth, compassion, kindness and integrity. She touched everyone she knew in a positive way and all were better for having known her. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered in our loving hearts. May the long time sun shine upon her; all love surround her and the pure light within her guide her way on. Surviving family members include her daughter Belinda and husband Dennis Posluszny (his daughter Carissa Larson and family) and grandchildren Melissa LaCrosse (Brandon Hanson); Sean Manley (Meghan); Alex Biers; and her great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Marian was preceded in death by her brother Edward; her son Gregory; and her husband Reginald. At Marian's request, there will be a private memorial service following cremation
