Roy Henry Wismer, 90 of Midland, passed peacefully Thursday morning, November 19, 2020 at his home. He was born January 15, 1930 in Edenville, the son of the late Charles and Martha (Hammer) Wismer. On February 2, 1952 he married the former Georgetta Marcy in Midland and she survives him. Roy was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from Midland Public Schools. Family was very important to Roy and he was blessed with a large, loving family that enjoyed many family gatherings. Besides family, Roy’s greatest enjoyments were babies, dogs, gardening, watching wildlife out the window of his home, watching Tiger Baseball and Westerns, and hunting and traveling in their younger years.
Roy is survived by his wife Georgetta Wismer of Midland; children, Norma (Keith) Goward, Don Wismer (Bertha Klepac), Donna (Barry) Hollingshead and daughter-in-law Connie (Scott Thompson) Wismer; grandchildren, Brian (Julayne) Goward, Brad (Kristine) Goward, Ben (Katie) Goward, Tracy Skalnican (Charlie Glynn), Jamie (Chris) Burke, Misty (Greg) Weiskirch, Seth (Amy) Wismer, Danielle Wismer (Jacob Somerville), Sara (Charlie) Woebbeking, and Billy Wismer (Breana Johnson), 19 great-grandchildren, and a brother Dick (Aileen) Wismer.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Rick Wismer, a grandchild Letha Wismer, a great-grandchild Tristan Goward and by a daughter-in-law Julie Wismer.
Funeral services for Roy will take place 11:30 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2020 from the Floyd Church of God with Pastor Steve Gulick officiating. Interment will follow in Midland Memorial Gardens. Roy’s family will receive friends at the church on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital of Grand Rapids.
