ROBERT KINGSLEY PUCKETT passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on November 15, 2020 after watching his beloved Cleveland Browns and talking to each of his three daughters. He spent a quiet day with his loving wife, Mary Puckett (née Chaten) of 63 years.
Bob, a lifelong Clevelander, was loved by many and was known for saying “There are no strangers, just friends we have not yet met.” He loved people, from his colleagues at Republic Steel where he had a 30-year career in accounting to his co-workers at his post-retirement jobs at Smythe Cramer, Lescher Shoes and Mar-Lou Shoes. He befriended people on the rapid transit, in church, and at places like Panera Bread. He participated in the weekly prayer partner program with the grade school students at St. Dominic Church and was active with the Shaker Club Condominium Association newsletter and finance committee. He loved writing poetry, singing songs, doing crossword puzzles, and playing a multitude of musical instruments. He loved his annual summer trips to his family cottage in Bobcaygeon, Canada. He was service-minded and volunteered at many charitable organizations over the years. He never said no to ice cream or angel food cake. He loved hugging his cherished grandkids, as well as his many friends. Bob was an eternal optimist and saw nothing but the best in people and situations.
He led a good life by example and made a lasting impact on his three daughters, Mary Hambor (Brad Martin), Judy Hannon (Michael) and Christine Roberts (Patrick) as well as his eight grandkids and four great grandkids. He was predeceased by his brother, Randy Puckett; and is survived by his sister, Sally Milnark, and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to the Newbell Niles and Ruth Neuer Puckett Prize: Case Western Reserve University Donor Relations, 10900 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44106 or St. Dominic School Scholarship Fund, 3455 Norwood Road, Shaker Heights, OH 44122.
