In 1943 when he was 13, his parents purchased a farm 2.5 miles west of Ute where Fred lived until his retirement. On August 17, 1952, Fred was united in marriage to the love of his life, Darlene Grell, in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Ute. The couple was blessed with three children: Teri, Randy and Bruce.
