Marion E. Nye
Marion E. Nye, age 79, passed away quietly on Monday October 26, 2020. Marion was born in Staten Island, NY. on June 20, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Reginald Bigness and Marion (Helt) Bigness. Marion is also proceeded in death by her brothers Richard and Donald Bigness and by a granddaughter Melanie Mixell. Marion is survived by her husband of 52 years Ralph H. Nye and daughters Deborah Mixell of Middletown, PA. and Charlene Nye of Palmyra, PA. Marion also leaves behind six grandchildren; Jefferson Mixell of Avondale, PA., Frederick Mixell of Philadelphia, Ashley Mixell of Camp Hill, Mathew Mixell of Middletown, Michael Mixell of Middletown and Kailene Nye of Palmyra. She is also survived by four great grandchildren; Eden Viera, Nora Mixell, Lucy Mixell and Grayson Martin and by her brothers; James Bigness and John Bigness. Marion graduated from Sackets Harbor High School in 1959 and Albany Business College in 1961. Following high school and college, Marion was first employed by the Niagara Mohawk Power Company and worked for a period of time at Howland’s Department Store in Watertown NY., as well as the city of Watertown School District where she worked in the high school cafeteria. Following her move to Pennsylvania in 1994, Marion was employed by Covenco and later Lower Dauphin High School, before retiring in 2014. Besides spending precious moments with her family, Marion loved to take long walks in her neighborhood, meeting and making many friends along the way. Marion’s warmth, generosity and sense of humor will be sorely missed by all those who had the honor and privilege of knowing her. Services for Marion will be held in private by her family in New York State at a later date. Marion’s family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.orgJune 20, 1941 - October 26, 202006/20/194110/26/2020
