Shirley D. Ridgway, 82, of Pennsboro, WV, departed this life on Sunday, March 22, 2020, at Mound View Nursing Home in Moundsville, WV.
Shirley was born August 26, 1937 in Ritchie County, WV, a daughter of the late Port M. and Bertha (Price) Smith. She was a proud graduate of Pennsboro High School with the class of 1955 where she played in the marching band. Shirley worked in the garment industry of Ritchie County mostly for Economy Industries in Harrisville, WV. She was a longtime member of the Pennsboro United Methodist Church, the Pennsboro Senior Citizens, OES Pennsboro Chapter #26 where she received her 50 year pin, and the Mountain Grange #515. Shirley loved playing the piano for her family and friends and she learned to play by ear. She also enjoyed playing her mandolin. She greatly enjoyed helping others and was a very hard worker who loved her sons and her grandchildren dearly.
She is survived by her three sons, Randall Ridgway (Vickie) of Pennsboro, WV; Rick Ridgway (Susan) of Pennsboro, WV; and Ronald Ridgway (Debbie) of Clarksburg, WV; her grandchildren, Adam, Vanessa, Anthony, Brett, Sarah, Allie, Drew, Amber, and Ryan, and her great grandchildren, Decker, Wyatt, Harper, Grayson, Gattlin, and Hazel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Ridgway who were united in marriage on July 9, 1955; grandson, Isaac Ronald Ridgway; sisters, Mildred Smith, Mary Smith, Lena May Hinton, Gladys Hinton, Zelma Gay Allender, and her brothers, Port Smith, Jr. and Mike Smith.
Due to the public health concern of the COVID-19 pandemic, private funeral services will be held at the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home in Pennsboro, WV. She will be laid to rest in the Hogue Cemetery near Pennsboro, WV.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pennsboro High School Scholarship Fund, c/o Parkersburg Area Community Foundation, 1620 Park Ave., Parkersburg, WV, 26101.
