Virginia Pratt Sellman
<p>Virginia Pratt Sellman, 85, of Simsbury and York, ME, wife of Nils D. Sellman, passed away Sunday, October, 10, 2010 at home. She was born August 2, 1925 in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of the late Curtis G. and Florence D. Pratt. A graduate of Tenack High School and Mount Holyoke College, class of 1947, she worked as a chemist doing research in the Department of Medicine at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University before her marriage. Virginia was active in the PTA, Girl Scouts and Irvington, NY Presbyterian Church. One of her great joys in life was spending time at the family home in York, ME. She was a member of the First Parish Church in York, ME. An avid birdwatcher, she passed that interest on to her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving mother, caring wife of 60 years and a loyal friend to her many longtime friends. Virginia is also survived by her children and their spouses, Nancy and Jim Scott of New Britain, David and Ann Sellman of LaGrange, GA and Bryan Sellman of New Hartford; her beloved grandchildren, Megan Scott, Taryn Scott, David Sellman and Kathryn Sellman; her sister Ruth Ham of Santa, Barbara, CA, and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary and Jim McIntosh of West Simsbury. She was predeceased by her sister Nancy Laack of Chamblee,GA. Virginia also leaves behind her many beloved nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 880 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury on Monday, October, 18th from 4- 6 p.m. A remembrance service will follow in November in York, ME at the First Parish Church.
