<p>Michael Joseph Gibney - October 5, 1934 - May 13, 2014</p><p><br></p><p>Michael Gibney, 79, of Collingwood passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 13, 2014 at General Marine Hospital, Collingwood. Mike was born in Dublin, Ireland, one of 9 children in a very busy household. He was a carpenter and moved to Toronto in 1958. He married Margaret (Marie) Flaherty in 1958 and they had 4 children, Lorraine (Martin) Zapfe, Mike (Sharon), Rory (Victoria), and Glenn (Alison). He was especially loving and proud of his 8 wonderful grandchildren, Haley (Wes), Rachel (Colin), Kevin, Michelle, Ryan, Emmett, Alanna, James, and his great-grandson Jax! Mickey loved to regale all with his many jokes and stories and his grandchildren will remember, "You've got a great face for radio", and their favourite "You're a good, kind kid"..... ask any of them and they will be delighted to finish the saying! Mike moved to Collingwood 15 years ago and loved being beside the water and made a lot of great neighbours and friends. He loved dogs and always kept a box of dog treats to share with the neighbourhood dogs as they would come around on their daily walks. Mike will be sorely missed by family, friends, great neighbours, and the local dogs! The family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors and staff at the hospital for their care, for Mike's wonderful caring neighbours, and a special thanks to Carsta for all she did to help Mike over the last few years. Friends will be received at Fawcett Funeral Home – Collingwood Chapel on Monday May 19th at 10:00 a.m. followed by funeral mass at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Mike to the Collingwood General Marine Hospital Foundation.</p><p><br></p>October 5, 1934 - May 13, 201410/05/193405/13/2014
