Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center

Pineville KY.

Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center is located in Pineville, Kentucky.  In this area, coal mines are a major employer in the community of Pineville.  Unfortunately, the closure of many of these mines has seen the majority of workers laid off and relying on government assistance.  This has resulted in more and more families choosing to go the cremation route for loved ones in order to minimize the costs.

Arnett & Steel realised this and saw an opportunity to address it by offering families an alternative to spend more time with their loved one.  The slumber bed was introduced as an alternative for families to hold a visitation before cremation.  The slumber bed is not a traditional casket but rather a platform set up for the deceased to lie on.  It is dressed up with a quilt and pillows that make it look like the deceased is asleep in their bed.

The slumber bed has been a great addition to the funeral home because it is providing families and friends with a cost-effective way to spend more time with their loved ones.  Many families are even opting for flowers and videos to be added to the service to give it a more traditional feel.  The slumber bed has also had a positive impact on children and created a less fearful atmosphere for them.

Arnett & Steel saw an issue in their community and developed an innovative way to address it.  Money should never be an issue when honoring a loved one.  The slumber bed addresses this issue and allows families a dignified way to hold a visitation and service so they can properly say goodbye.
