James "Jimmy" E. Lynch Obituary

James “Jimmy” E. Lynch, age 85, passed away peacefully in his Walpole, Massachusetts home on Sunday, January 24, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on June 15, 1935, he was the son of the late James E. and Evelyn (Dine) Lynch.  He was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts, alongside his brother, Jack, and graduated from Boston Trade High School with the Class of 1953.  Following his graduation, Jimmy enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Greenland where he learned to be a heavy equipment mechanic.  Jimmy and Lillian were married on May 18, 1957.  Together, they made their home in Walpole where they raised four children, Jeanne, Patricia, James, Jr., and Mark.

Jimmy was a member of the International Brotherhood of Operating Engineers, Local 4.  He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and operator for Sylvester Ray Enterprises for 37 dedicated years.  Later he worked for Capone Bros. Construction until his retirement.

When Jimmy wasn't hard at work, he enjoyed tinkering with anything that had an engine. He restored a 1930’s midget race car that he brought to various race tracks to exhibit.  He was an avid NASCAR fan, always cheering for his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt #3.  Jimmy's love for sports did not end with auto racing. As a younger man he looked forward to lacing up his skates to play in a men's hockey league with his brother and two of his brother-in-laws.

He enjoyed meeting his brother, Jack, and his close friends everyday at 5 AM for coffee at The Country Kitchen.  He and Lillian enjoyed Sunday night coffee get togethers for many years with their closest friends.  Jimmy shared a truly special relationship with his wife, Lillian.  After retirement they would pack up the RV and head south to Florida, spending two or three months cruising around and visiting with friends and relatives.  He was lovingly referred to as “grampie” by his grandchildren.  He was a doting grandfather actively participating in their lives attending football, baseball, field hockey, and soccer games, and all kinds of family events.

Beloved husband of the late Lillian T. (McNeil) Lynch, Loving father of Jeanne Botsivales and her husband, Gregory, of East Dennis, Patricia Lynch of Plainville, James E. Lynch, Jr. and his wife, Daquiri, of Norfolk, and Mark E. Lynch and his wife, Diane, of Mansfield, Cherished grandfather of Brian Lynch, Kristen Lynch, Emily Botsivales, John Botsivales, and Joseph Cotter, and Brother of Jack R. Lynch of Walpole.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Jimmy's visitation on Friday, January 29, 2021 from 5 to 7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.

A funeral mass and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jimmy’s honor to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley Street, West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
